Look familiar? Going to hang around, read a bit, and join in the conversation — or turn away?
If you’re going to stay, I will not promise preciseness. Thoughts are banging against each other rather fiercely this afternoon after last night’s news.
Trump Indicted!
Feels like it took forever, doesn’t it? I never expected it not to. Building an airtight case takes time and that’s what is needed to put that traitorous maladapted rotten excuse of a human being behind bars.
That said, last night felt so good. Relief was everywhere. Joy. Thankfulness.
Justice still walks the halls of power in this country. At least in some halls.
And this was huge. So many have been hurt. So much lost because of the actions of that man. But as much as I find Trump deplorable, the seven deadly sins made flesh — the ultimate responsibility for all the harm done to our country, all the harm done to our people — rests with his supporters.
Responsibility rests with what was the Republican Party and the media that normalized the collection of bottom feeders the GOP has become.
They are not happy today. The fury is coming fast and furious, including from Republicans who claim to not be MAGA.
I actually replied to that tweet, pointing out the multiple investigations of Hillary and the more recent ones into the Bidens. Investigations done by Republicans, including Trump appointees.
Investigations that found nothing.
Ended my reply to Walsh with the following — “What you're hearing from your Friend and others is fury at the very idea of one of their own being held accountable.”
The entitlement. The fear. So often they go hand in hand in the Right’s response to Trump’s indictment.
From Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz, VA Governor Youngin, MAGA podcasters, to the usual suspects on Fox. It’s all the same.
Those who were never held accountable for their actions, those who worshipped the King of Always Getting off the Hook, the Mob Boss himself, were suddenly facing a reality that said, “not so fast.”
Of course, this was all predictable. And it was. Black Americans, especially Black Women had seen it coming for decades. Sane woman did the same. Good people who understood that fairness and justice had to matter in a country that claimed to be a “shining city on the hill” for democracy saw it coming.
In order to fight for good, in order to lift up, you have to be able to see what is harmful, what would drag down and destroy.
Too many lacked the courage to do so. They’re all Trump’s now. They’re all the GOP.
They are not “Conservative” by any stretch of reality, and we need to stop calling them that. Media needs to stop calling them that. Today’s GOP does not conserve anything. Everything is subservient to their need for power, their need to be free of any accountability. It’s why they have rushed to defend a man they know is a traitor, a long-standing criminal, a fraud, an abuser.
He was what they wanted to be. Free of any responsibility except to himself.
They want it all. If it’s their long list of fact less grievances, their demonizing of innocent groups from teachers to LGBTQ kids to the FBI, it’s all part of the whole. They want the freedom to lie, cheat, betray, and abuse. They want total power without any accountability.
This is what today’s GOP has become. This is why their embrace of Trump was utterly predictable.
Of course, it was predicted. The attacks in response were no surprise to those with the courage to face reality.
One in particular has endured decades of attacks from the Right. She always knew what they were. Their years of character assassination should have proven how right she was to anyone who valued fairness.
She always knew what Trump was and said so.
The Right and MSM attacks on Hillary were constant.
Mainstream media still has not learned its lesson. Even this morning false equivalences were headline material.
The good old boys club and their stepford wives are all busy protecting their entitled refusal to be accountable.
It’s cowardly and self-serving. I have no use for either. No one should.
We need people who can speak truth and shame the devil. If Hillary doesn’t prove just that, no one does.
Vice President Harris has never been afraid to do the same.
We all remember her work as a Senator. The hearings and how she handled Trump Supreme Court nominees. Those of us who have done our homework on her know how deeply she thinks and how hard she fights.
That is why efforts to dismiss her, to erase all that she is continue.
I really did not want to mention any so-called Republicans, MAGA, or Fox news today. Mainstream media has deeply betrayed this country with its constant normalizing of those who push extreme right-wing ideology, if not downright insanity. MSM has normalized abusers, zealots, racists, and sexists.
The profound distinction between authoritarianism and a functioning democracy is papered over, ignored. That is far too dangerous to our human rights.
It’s up to us to pay attention. It’s our voices that matter, our lives, our children’s futures, we are fighting for.
It’s who we lift up that will make all the difference.
This country has paid again and again for ignoring the wise among us. We must not do so again. Don’t ignore erasure directed at VP Harris. Don’t ignore the battles good people are fighting for us. Stop giving the toxic Right your attention. Lift up those who are fighting the good fight.
The only way to stop the madness is together — that means all of us. The LGBTQ community, men, women, black, brown, white, all the colors, the disabled, young and old.
Together we are a mighty force.
That is just what they are afraid of. Never forget that. Together, we rise.
