For most tourists, visiting Glacier National Park in Montana means either driving or taking a tour bus across the Going-to-the-Sun Road. While this is usually a breath-taking experience as the Sun Road winds through the Rocky Mountains, for a few drivers who are unaccustomed to narrow mountain roads with a switchback and steep drop-offs along the side, this can be a white-knuckle experience. The photographs below focus on the road itself, which is considered to be an engineering marvel, rather than on the scenery on either side. At the time of these photographs, the east side of the Road had already been closed for the season.
