When I saw this clip making the Social Media rounds, I thought to myself:
“Finally, Trump is saying the quiet part out loud.”
Trump: “We’ve been waging an all out war on American democracy.”
Not so fast, says the Fact-checking organization Snopes. They put out a disturbing defense of the Mussolini apprentice. Going so far as, to dissect “the context” of the unhinged campaign event ramblings, and even trying to decipher what he must’ve really meant.
You can read it for yourself here. I only cite them to highlight their apparent Fact-checking double-standard.
Because we find no similar “nuanced” Fact-check to verify or falsify, the same speaker’s unfounded accusations against his presumed opponent: President Biden:
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Former President Donald Trump on Saturday attempted to turn the tables on his likely rival in November, President Joe Biden, arguing that the man whose election victory Trump tried to overturn is “the destroyer of American democracy.”

A quick search of the Snopes website using the keywords:
Biden the destroyer of American democracy
finds that the Snopes detectives are strangely quiet on this topic. Nor was there any such retort on their “Recent Fact Checks” page either. Instead, when it comes to defending Joe Biden, we get …
Maybe they’re as tired of correcting the perpetual liar, as the rest of us. But that doesn’t make such Fact-checks any less important.
When news agencies routinely ignore the blatant lies from Trump, they effectively “normalize” his ramblings. Because such ‘nods and winks’ only serves to make him once again — “a viable candidate” … especially for the low-info voters. You know those folks who don’t spend much time following the tedious never-ending “antics” of Defendant One.

Of course, considering how Trump’s recent attacks on his Media critics — equating them with “vermin” … “that we will root out” — even THAT call-back hardly raised any national eyebrows. At least not in any lasting way — that ultimately will matter. Say in about a year from now.
Nothing like the “national outrage” — that ran on a loop for days — concerning Hillary’s “deplorables” comment.
- The Big Three broadcast TV networks provided 18 times more coverage of Clinton’s 2016 “deplorables” comment than Trump’s “vermin” remark on their combined nationally syndicated morning news, evening news, and Sunday morning political talk shows.
- CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC mentioned Clinton’s “deplorables” comment nearly 9 times more than Trump’s “vermin” comment.
- Print reports that mentioned Clinton's statement outnumbered those that mentioned Trump’s 29-to-1 across the five highest-circulating U.S. newspapers.

Oh well, La de freaking Duh … tell us about something that really matters ...
Something like American’s slow “Sleep-walking into Dictatorship,” why dont ya!?
PS. the Free Media will be the first ones to go — in the event of such a scenario. Or so, the history of other such unravelings, usually show.
You only realize what you had — once it’s gone. So the saying goes …
We were warned … we are being warned, still.
