Hi everybody,
I want to extend a warm thank you to everyone who has sent school supplies to the Okiciyap food pantry so the children on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation can be properly equipped this fall.
There are still a few items on their wish list if new people reading this diary feel inspired to send some.
List and pics below the fold.....
From Emily Penick, pantry director, in response to my question of whether anything else is needed.
1. Zipper binders for the high schoolers...still need a few more of those....
2. A few more socks for the lil ones...
3. If they want they can start sending gloves for the winter, we can definitely use those
I really hate to think that winter is coming up but.... if you see sales on mittens and gloves you know where to send them.
A side note. I know some of you are wondering about fresh food at the pantry. This year Okiciyap has gotten a few loads of produce to distribute.
They distributed these earlier this summer:
Watermelons given out at the pantry this summer
After that they gave out peaches:
In between people have been dropping off things like zucchinis....I would send some of mine if I could!
This coming Tuesday they will be giving out more fresh fruit and vegetables.
If you'd like to send donations, here is the address:
Okiciyap
309 N. Wilson Ave.
Isabel, SD 57633
Note: earlier this summer I had announced that the pantry had lost its 501(c)3 status due to a paperwork oversight. It has now been restored, so you can donate knowing that it is indeed tax deductible.
Here are some of your donations:
Thank you!
