And, once more, the first to get here is from Bill and Michael and their assorted livestock.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Whale shark feeding off Hawaii.
A brief history of onions in America.
Christie’s mis-dated a nautical chart, and it turns out to be worth several million rather than the $239,000 they auctioned it off for.
Potatoes, potatoes, and more potatoes. Recipes from Delish.
It is possible that the lost Kingdom of Punt has been found. Baboons mummified and buried in Egypt were apparently from a particular area, and one import from Punt that is well documented is baboons.

The PPS teachers’ strike is over. 3½ school weeks, 18 days, of which seven would have been no school anyway. It looks like Christmas break might be only one week rather than two, but we will see. The two schedules I check on the school site are currently in conflict.
I got a delivery to my back porch on Tuesday. This was fine with me since most of it was snacking stuff, and the back door opens into the kitchen. I do like roasted chestnuts, which is one of the things that arrived — a LOT of roasted chestnuts.
My laundry basket is starting to fall apart. The new one arrived yesterday — I went for one with wheels and and extendable handle, which might last longer than the old one did.
Henry Kissinger died at age 100. I’m not going to miss him. I’m also a bit surprised he wasn’t assassinated around 40 years ago. Kind of the same way I’m a bit surprised Trump hasn’t died of a rage-induced heart attack yet.
The visit from the Reed sisters fell through; but with the help of my grandkids, I did get most of what remained to do taken care of. In about two hours.

Love you guys!
